Below are the Top 5 favourite cities that I have visited. Each city now becomes a collection of my treasured photos that elicit fond memories. What are your favourite cities? Share with us here!
1★ Paris, France ★
Eiffel Tower – the most visited paid monument in the world – was once an eyesore to many when it was built. The objective of the project was to demonstrate the capabilities of modern steel engineering at Paris 1889 world exhibition, and originally had no use at all! A novelist supposedly ate lunch at the Tower’s restaurant every day as he claimed that it was the only place in Paris where he couldn’t see the Tower! This stunning view was taken on Eiffel Tower.
Louvre Museum, the world famous! It holds some of the world’s most renowed works of art, and is so big and fascinating! The museum houses antiques, paintings, sculptures and royal treasures from all over the world. This is the museum I love most! We entered FREE as we were there on the first Sunday of the month (May).
Give Us Peace Forever – saw this artefact depicting the two planes that crashed into the NY World Trade Center in Paris.
2 ★ Rome, Italy ★
The historic centre of Rome is in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The mighty Colosseum is the largest elliptical amphitheatre ever built in the Roman Empire and one of the greatest works of Roman architecture and engineering. When we think of Colosseum, we think of the brave gladiators who fought for their lives.
While Vatican City is in Rome, it is an independent nation-state with a population of less than 900 people. Being the world’s smallest nation that measures 0.17 square miles, it remains a political and spiritual force throughout the rest of the world. A unique collection of artistic and architectural masterpieces lie within the boundaries of this small state, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This view was taken from Vatican museum through a window.
The Sistine Chapel – the ceiling painted by Michelangelo and is one of the most renowned artworks in the world. In the centre of this photo, you can see the iconic image of the Hand of God giving life to Adam. The Last Judgement on the altar wall took Michelangelo eight years to complete. This was snapped secretly!
3 ★ Prague, Czech Republic ★
Prague Old Town Square – many historic buildings of Romanesque, Baroque and Gothic styles were erected around the medieval Old Town Square. The Gothic style Old Town Hall Tower is one of the most striking buildings in Prague built in 1338. The historic centre of Prague is also in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Prague Castle – one of the biggest castles and the largest inhabited fortress in the world.
The climb to a higher spot at Prague Castle offers the most spectacular view across the Bohemian town with its distinctive red roof buildings.
4 ★ Vienna, Austria ★
Schönbrunn Palace – the palace served as summer residence to various Habsburg rulers and is so big that part of it is a hunting and recreation ground. This photo was taken after a tiring walk up the hill, but is definitely worth the climb for such a breathtaking view. This is yet another site in UNESCO World Heritage List.
The historic centre of Vienna is also in the UNESCO World Heritage List!! St Stephen’s Cathedral is a Romanesque and Gothic styles cathedral and is the most important religious building in Vienna.
The Hundertwasser House is a funny looking apartment with large trees growing from inside the rooms, with limbs extending from windows. The house was designed by an Austrian artist at no charge.
5 ★ New York City ★
How could we afford to miss the Liberty?! The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the United States to commemorate the 100th anniversary of American independence. We took the Liberty Cruise to admire her…
We went up to TOP OF THE ROCK, an observation deck at Rockefeller Center located in midtown Manhattan which is 70 storeys above the city. This is a bird’s eye view of Empire State Building, Central Park and a 360-degree panorama view of the Big Apple, with tall buildings sprouted up all over the city.
Times Square is the site of the annual New Year’s Eve ball drop. The building that holds the ball is in the centre of this photo. This is a lively square always bustling with activities.

Hi Eunice,
Thanks for sharing all these great, great, great photos! They’re awesome! This August I will finally see New York. My hubby and I will go on another roadtrip, this time though it’s towards the East Coast. Last time, we did the northern west coast.
And I love that Prague pictures you posted. As I said to Limzhi before, I want to go to Prague. It’s on my wishlist. Hope to see it when we go to Germany this October for Octoberfest and see my relatives. I bet it’s just closeby.

Hey, Eunice! How are you? I so want to go to the Louvre. I wouldn’t mind being trapped in there for hours…just not all by myself though because that’d be scary. Hehe! I haven’t traveled much. I even missed out on a trip to New York when I was in the US because my colleagues scheduled the trip on the day I was leaving for home (Philippines). Hahay…I fell in love with Washington DC though. It’s my number one.

@Irvine: Not yet! I wish to visit Holland someday during the season of tulip blooming!
@Borneo Falcon: Hmm, actually I prefer Paris more than Prague as I feel that Paris is more “happening”.
@Jasper: Hey, didn’t I say I am jealous of your trip to Canada? Heehee!
@Lz: Will read your posts on Prague! Fortunately, the Youth Hostel TYN we stayed is quite good. It’s located strategically in the Old Town Square. And yes, we encountered some unfriendliness too, those waiter and waitress who overcharged us purposely. And some scary incidents too. (I posted them here->
https://travelerfolio.com/places/europe/czech-republic/prague/)
@Dee: Out of your 5 favourites, I only visited 2 – Interlaken and Prague. I love Interlaken! I am going to classify it under another top list here!! (My posts on Switzerland -> https://travelerfolio.com/places/europe/switzerland/)
@Aswani: You know, the sceneries are so nice that even any candid shots can be very beautiful.
@Faeryrowan: I’ve been to the Met Museum (NY) and other museums, and I still love Louvre best! Oh my, Mona Lisa, Venus and so many other famous collections from all over the world are displayed there, yet free admission on the 1st Sunday of each month! How nice! One day is never enough for this museum. You’ve to be very early to queue up for Louvre as the queue can be super long later.
Cecil
