In front of the United Nations Headquarters is a display of flags representing each member state, beginning with Afghanistan to Zimbabwe. The flags are only raised when members are in congress in The General Assembly.

As we entered the UN Plaza, we saw a gun with a knot in the barrel. This piece of art is called “Non-Violence”. It consists of a large replica in bronze of a 45-calibre revolver, the barrel of which is tied into a knot. It was created in 1980 as a peace symbol and is located in the Visitor’s Plaza, facing First Avenue at 45th Street.

The Globe sculpture, also located in the Visitor’s Plaza. The Globe is broken and I do not know what it symbolizes.
