We had so much fun snorkelling in Redang! At the Pasir Panjang beach, the waters are very clear and calm and you see coral reefs and a variety of fish species feeding on the reefs and swimming near the sea shore so we don’t even need to go far into the sea to snorkel. We spent the rest of the day relaxing at the beach and snorkelling near the shore. Surprisingly, though we were near the shore, we spotted a very big grouper which scared me out of hell when it looked at me face to face! We also saw a black-tip shark too.
We also snorkelled at the sea with stronger waves (behind our resort room). That was more “challenging” as the currents were strong and kept pushing us back to the shore when we tried to swim forward, and when we were being pushed backward, there were many sharp coral reefs near us! We had to try hard to dodge to avoid getting cut by the sharp reefs. That was why I always wore a t-shirt while in the water to protect myself. There were also sightings of blacktip reef sharks lurking in this side of the sea. One baby shark was even intimidated by a group of Malaysians surrounding it.
The popular More More Tea Inn at Pasir Panjang beach adds some colourful hues to the white sandy beach.
The inn was built for the set of Summer Holiday (夏日的么么茶) starring Sammi Cheng and Richie Jen. The film made Redang Island even more popular to tourists from the neighbouring countries.
