The Majestic Hotel has recently been revived to its former glory on the historic trail of Kuala Lumpur. A heritage jewel in YTL Classic Hotel collection, the hotel is the first in KL to be part of ‘The Leading Hotels of The World’, the benchmark for luxury hospitality.

With a history that dates back to 1930s, the Majestic Hotel was one of the most lavish hotels in Southeast Asia at its peak, a prestigious venue for high profile personalities and events. Closed in 1984, the hotel became a national heritage site and later served as the National Art Gallery of Malaysia.

Today, the Majestic Hotel still retains the old world charm of British colonial architecture; the Majestic Wing is the original 5-storey hotel fully restored to house 47 luxurious suites with full butler service. The 15-storey Tower Wing is a new addition to include 253 art deco guest rooms and suites, 17 meeting rooms, a pillar-less ballroom that can seat 1,200 people as well as a pool and a fully equipped gym.

Tastefully designed in a classic contemporary style, the Junior Suite at the Tower Wing is comfortably furnished with a king bed and living area. The spacious bathroom features dual vanities, a rain shower and free standing bathtub that faces a wall-mounted TV, a great treat while soaking in bubble bath.

The Majestic Spa features the art nouveau style of the Sottish designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s famous Willow Tearooms, exuding the ambience of the golden era of British Malaya. It has seven treatment rooms, a relaxation area and a private pool.

The Majestic Hotel offers diners an unforgettable gastronomic experience with delicious local and international cuisines to suit every taste buds. The Colonial Cafe is themed around the halcyon days of the Malaya planters, serving classic colonial cuisine created by Hainanese chefs.

Start with tender escargots in garlic butter on toasties; for the main, try the flavourful traditional Hainanese chicken rice balls, Hainanese chicken chops in special sauce or the juicy rosemary lamb chops.

If you like fish, the cod dish is beautifully executed and among the best on the menu.

Chic and contemporary, Contango features an open kitchen interactive dining concept, offering a wide spread of Asian and Western delectables, including Italian and grilled dishes freshly prepared to order and a wine cellar that holds the Opus One vertical collection of wine created by both Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Modavi. Sashimi lovers will be attracted to the Japanese counter piled with slices of fresh salmon, swordfish and tuna among other delicacies.

Elegantly designed in colonial style, The Tea Lounge provides a spot for English Afternoon Tea with Malaysian flavour. Taste a Stengah, Gin Pahit, Sling or vintage cocktail like the Malaya planters in the colonial era at The Bar where classical music fills the air.

Enjoy afternoon tea in a hanging garden of orchids at the Orchid Conservatory where a variety of colourful orchids bloom within the glass atrium.

The hotel is 10-minute away by car to Kuala Lumpur city centre and the Golden Triangle area of skyscrapers, entertainments and shopping malls; Starhill Gallery, a luxury shopping mall with premier retailers is located in the area as well.
