The real “outback” of Australia lies in the Northern Territory, home to a diversity of endemic flora and fauna, iconic natural wonders like Kakadu National Park and Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock, world class rock art sites and the unique Aboriginal culture that exists since 40 thousand years ago.
Uluru (Ayers Rock)
Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, renowned for its natural beauty and rich cultural values, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the deep centre of Australia. The nation’s most recognisable icon is none other than Ayers Rock, the natural phenomenon that changes colours at different times of the year and glows red at dawn and sunset. Standing at 348 metre high, the famous “Rock” is like the tip of an iceberg – a large part of it is below the surface.
