Sichuan Quake Disaster Photo Exhibit



Photos taken at the exhibit at World Book Fair (May-Jun 2008) at Suntec Singapore. Free admission.

“This little girl was still holding on to her pen when her body was retrieved from under the rubble.”

Dujiangyan city. “Will this be the next fall?”

Facing the disaster bravely, hand in hand.

The main school building buried 16 students when it collapsed. The school has decided to let the building serve as a historic monument.

“With their homes destroyed, the car becomes a temporary shelter for some.”

Left: “Those who perished in the earthquake were buried almost immediately, most without a coffin. This family happened to have a coffin in the house to bury the dead.”

    Hi Eunice… these photos are really touching… i never felt this sad as when i looked at tv here in Italy but it’s different to see them in bigger picture…

    Yeah, it’s heartbreaking to see people suffer and dying in front of their loved ones. Yet we can’t help much also. Hope they rebuild their homes soonest possible. Just imagine we have lost our homes and living in the tents now.

    I have been Sichuan two years ago, it’s a beautiful place but now it’s in rubble.

    I feel so sad about the tragic incident in China. Especially the picture of the child still holding his/her pen. You can really see that, the child was really determined to study.

    Dear Eunice, Thank you for the kindly comment about my post:It’s Time To Say Goodbye To My Second Hometown.

    Yeah,I was born in HanWang because my parents transferred to Sichuan during the “Third-line Construction” era. So SiChuan is my second hometown.

    Sichuan a beautiful and leisure place. I love it so much though thousands of my neighbors died because of the magnitude-8.0 earthquake.
