Leaving for Virginia

It was the last day of our tour package. Our next destination was Virginia, where Jacky’s sister and her family live. Warren brought his loving wife along and drove us to Orlando International Airport. From there, we took a domestic flight by US Airways to Reagan National Airport in Virginia.

Jacky’s sister, Jaime, was working when we reached Reagan Airport, after a 2-hour flight. We waited for a while before she came. There weren’t many shops around the airport so we were reading a complimentary magazine with David Beckham making the biggest headline about his arrival in Los Angeles for his new soccer club - Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy.

Virginia Home-stay

After a busy week of preparing for our customary wedding and another week of rushing through our guided tour (plus jet-lag) and six theme parks (within two days!), we were simply exhausted. We were not very motivated to visit the nearby water theme park as we had enough of queuing-ups. Cruise? I don’t like cruise as I can fall asleep easily in a cruise so it’s a waste of money. I even dozed off on a boat ride in Venice when everyone onboard was enjoying the beautiful Venetian setting.

But one thing for sure, I was very motivated to go shopping as we didn’t really have the chance to shop around during our guided tour. Jaime accompanied us to the nearby Fair Oaks Mall. It was a big mall without many patrons during the day. We were surprised to know that the shopping mall closes at 6pm on Sundays when it is supposed to draw a larger weekend crowd.

Shopping Spree in Virginia Outlets!

For the last three days, we were crazily shopping at the nearby Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets (or factory outlets, er… not like Singapore Factory Outlet hor =P). The famous brands were cheap and nice! We bought from Polo Ralph Lauren, Nike, DKNY, Coach, Esprit, Levi’s, Timberland…couldn’t recall more.

We also went to Tyson’s Corner Center, the largest mall in the D.C. area. I exchanged my Coach bag for a different model after I realised that I was not used to hand-carry bag. No question asked and their customer service was so good. We bought many chocolates from Godiva and they were a lot cheaper than those in Singapore too!

And we love the big and yummy cheese cakes at The Cheesecake Factory!

I should say that her blog(TravelerFolio) is definitely one of those you’ll get hooked up with. I came across her blog and I instantly had it bookmarked already. I’m not from Singapore but a lot of things can be learned from her blog and the way I see it, things will flourish for this site in the future if the owner continues to sustain her momentum. Among others.
