iPhone Cover from Ben & Jerry

Woohoo! I got the iPhone cover from Ben & Jerry today. Won it from an easy-to-win contest run by a lovely Singapore Food Blogger, Catherine from Camemberu. Her latest blog post features my favourite pepper crabs from Eng Seng Restaurant (Singapore)! As suggested, I’m here to show off this strikingly colourful iPhone cover. LOL Thank you Catherine!

My First HTML Website – Strictly NO LOLs

My first HTML website hosted by Geocities is officially shut down by Yahoo today, yet another four days to go before its 10th anniversary!!! Boohoo!!! What a shame! I couldn’t remember when I stopped updating the homepage but it was created on Nov 1999!

Back in the heydays, when there was no Facebook, no Twitter, no Web 2.0, Geocities was about as close as what we know today as social networks. It offered free web hosting services and that was where I learnt to write HTML to create my homepage and share travel photos online with friends! Back then, blinking gifs, marquee text and MIDI were very popular! Oops! Have I revealed my age? … :P

Luckily, I got this news earlier so all the files are already backed up! It’s quite embarrassing to showcase the screenshots of my super old HTML homepage here. Whatever. Just LOL if you want. I just realized that I was already building a small and simple travel site featuring my overseas trips way before TravelerFolio was created! @_@

See? Back then, I was trying hard to “retain” visitors with these “blazing hot” games like Tic-Tac-Toe, Slot machine and Video poker. -_-|||

This is what we called a blogroll now! And I was so niceeee to share useful sites online! XD And I was really inspired by the photos in Webshots!

Wow! I did a page about Singapore too! @_@

Feeling a bit nostalgic now. Will Wordpress and Blogspot shut down their services in the future too? :P

Good news (at least for me)! My old HTML website is now hosted here! http://travelerfolio.com/geocities/ . Strictly NO LOLs. Anyway, you won’t see the travel photos as I have already disabled that feature.

Thank you and Goodbye Geocities!!!

The winner for Nuffnang Best Travel Blog is Ironwulf! He is a Pinoy backpacker and also a personal friend of Dong Ho, one of our dear Pinoy travel bloggers. What a small world!

15 Best Travel Photo Blogs

Wow! I’m elated when I saw my travel blog on the list of 15 Best Travel Photo Blogs by BootsnAll Travel Network, a travel info site with over 3 millions visitors monthly. Together with other popular travel blogs from around the world, I feel so small on the list! If the list is in ranking order, then mine is ranked #7. Not bad right? LOL okok just a consolation for myself can?

Earthquake Tremor felt AGAIN in Singapore

Update! 1 Oct 2009: I could feel earthquake tremor again at 9.55am Singapore time! This time it was a slight tremor for a few seconds only. “Goosebump” moment again…

30 Sep 2009

OMG! I felt earthquake tremor at home again in Singapore just a while ago around 6.15 pm! This time I could feel that it was a heavy earthquake! I managed to take a video of it. Do you know how it feel when I tried to focus on the crystal lamp that was swaying above me? It was a terrible feeling! I felt really giddy while taking the video. The tremor lasted for quite long and I began to get nervous! I was wondering if the building I’m staying in would collapse! Touch wood!!! Really terrible feeling… and feel sad ‘cos for sure, I know many people will lose their lives and homes.

I took a video of my swaying crystal lamp during the earthquake tremor. The video ended when the tremor stopped. So I think the tremor lasted for about 2mins.

Add+: Guess what? This video was shown on Channel U News on the very night. Ha!

Sad news: It’s a powerful 7.6-magnitude earthquake off Sumatra, Indonesia and triggered a massive South Pacific Tsunami.

A tsunami warning was initially issued after the quake but later withdrawn. – CNA/vm

p.s: I was complaining of how bad the air quality is now just before the earthquake tremor was felt. The air quality PSI measures 64 today. “Opacity” = 80% !!!
