I was born there 36 years ago and lived in my city until the age of 22 when I started traveling to become and anthropologist. I lived not very distant from Piazza Santa Croce. My family is still there so that, when I was in Scotland, I used to spend the entire August in Florence each year.
Now, with my wife (whom is not Italian, but Native American, an Apache) I live and work in the wonderful Singapore. I came as a visiting professor at NUS and I fall in love with the city, so that I decided not to move to Sydney.
We like Singapore, and also, due to my interest in Southeast Asia, is the perfect place to start my anthropological adventures. And Singaporeans are so friendly that we feel very much part of this multi-ethnic and colorful society.
We have now lots of Singaporean friends and we feel at home in this eternal summer blessed with my prefer king of fruits ... yes, I know... an Italian, Florentine, whom love and goes crazy for Durian?
Of course, I miss my Florence and that strange feeling of being suspended between past and present and its harmony and beauty, but I know that with 13 hours I can see it again the next summer.
Thanks for your nice blog and words for my city. And of course, I hope to meet you around Singapore,

It is so nice tonight to see my Florence. Brunelleschi, Leonardo, Michelangelo. The city was an incubator of genius. I'm jealous of your travels, but grateful that you share your pictures with those of us who haven't had the chance to go there.
Now how about Athens?

If there is one place I’d like to visit, it’s Florence. The cradle of the Renaissance.
